Witch hunt finally coming to an end
More than 1,000 war crime accusations tabled against British soldiers in Iraq have been dismissed, the director of the Service Prosecuting Authority (SPA) has said.
Andrew Cayley said only one case is yet to be resolved, adding it was "quite possible" the accusations will ultimately result in zero prosecutions.
Former lawyer Phil Shiner made more than 1,000 claims involving the British military following the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

I wonder if those British soldiers who have had these accusations hanging over them for months or even years recieve compensation and will those who have made those accusations now face possible legal actions themselves.
Somehow I doubt either actions will come to pass.

i would very much doubt it as these people probably did it to get money and it would be pointless for the accused going after the accusers as these people don’t have a penny to their names unless you go after the slime balls who put them up to it

My idea would be compensation from this Government, legal actions against the various legal teams, who must have at sometime realised that the majority of the evidence and complaints were not justified and unlikely to stand up to vigerous questioning and examination.

as the old saying goes better late then never doesn’t make up for what the accused had to put up with,I seem to remember there was a big song and dance with regards the solicitation represented these accusations

Yes I agree, but it would at least be an acknowledgement that the accusations and subsequent legal processess were wrong, better than an apology from a government spokesperson.
Yes the story and possible investigation by the Law Society into that law firms action certainly died very quickly. There has been nothing in the media since the initial story.

Yea I find it very strange but glad for the people involved that they are not going any further forward with this other then one case pending considering that it was not that long ago,yet people are like a dog with a bone regarding prosecution of veterans from the Northern Ireland conflict and won’t let that rest

Have had dealings with the Law Society in the past and came away with the feeling that if there is anybody who should NOT investigate wrong doing by a lawyer then it is, without doubt, another lawyer!
