Shotton Town council is hold a stone laying ceremony for Henry (Harry) Weale VC on Monday 15th Oct 18 at the Harry Weale VC, commencing at 1000hrs at the Harry Weale VC Memorial Garden Shotton.

Al branch's and comrades are invited ( RWF Standards Please) after the ceremony there is a civic reception in the civic hall connahs quay.
Please make a note in your diaries.

Can branches let me know their numbers attending for catering purposes by the 24th Sept 18 (the last planning meeting with Shotton Town Council

Why has it taken so long I thought this was supposed to have been done years ago where I live the stone to the local VC holder was laid about four years ago

Haven.t the official programme of events as yet it will be put out to all branches by Des when finalised.
But I believe the stone is going to be laid into the bridge Boundary by the C/Q war memorial, more details to follow.

Apparently it was all to do with funding for a 2nd stone in Welsh I believe, you know what town councils are like they certainly don't rush things LOL!

VC Commemorative Stones are meant to be laid/unveiled on the Centenary of the award. In the case of Harry Weale, it should have been laid in August. Policy states that stones should be laid in the recipients place of birth.
