Hi guy's thanks for the prompt replies.
I will need to look at all pictures and I will need dates, names, locations etc. I am also looking for photo's/ stories and information that are pre Honiton days. Ideally I need to go back as far as 1939-45. But any info will help in the initial stages of research.

    Re: RWF Band's

You could fill about 22 chapters with what Led's got to say, it would be a best seller. Also if anyone wants an after dinner speaker leds your man, one of the funniest Flockers at speaking at reunions i have ever seen. cant wait to see the speach at the next reunion Led mate.

I remember one tale i was told about bandsman Cadwalider, he peved I think Benny Nash off. So benny chased him and Cadwalider ran straight through a set of sliding doors, Cadwalider didn't know there was glass there. I think thats correct. If anyone can confirm the details it would be appreciated.

    Re: RWF Band's

    Hello Paul,
I do not know if you are aware that Joe Kent has written a book about the 1st Battalion band boys it dates from the time he joined the regiment as a band boy. It covers a lot of humorous anecdotes from his service in Jamaica. It is titled "By the Right by the Left by the Centre."The title alone will bring back memories to a lot of members.I also have the news paper published in Jamaica (The Daily Gleaner) after the hurricane in August 1951. The band features a lot as they provided food and shelter during this period of hurricane relief. Bill, Horton was awarded the M.B.E. for his work supervising the issue of water from converted bowsers from the sugar plantations to the beleagured citizens of Jamaica. I have also just sent a lot of pictures of the band reunoin we went to in Jamaica in 1993 to Bob Bacon. It contains quite a few of the old band boys when we visited the island for pleasure and to attend a service of remembrance in the garrison church in Up Park camp for the members and families and children of the first Battalion that died in the plane that crashed off Newfoundland. I also sent Bob pics of the Jamaican band with some of the first playing at our Saint Davids Day Dinner held in the Wyndham hotel. Names present were Freddie- Lingwood White. Bill Horton, Harry Puttick, Bill Fowlie, Joe Hadley, John Hampson,And last but not least Fred Platt.I also enclosed a sheet listing the music played on this night, this band included members of the 1st R.W.F. band mixed in with the West Indian band (Jamaica Battalion) and they were dressed in their African Zoave uniforms. The Jamaican band not the R.W.F boys.

    Regards Don
