Can someone please verify who is eligible to be a RWF comrade, I am under the impression correct me if I'm wrong here. anyone who as served as a adult with a RWF cap badge, regardless of 1st Battalion is a comrade of the RWF Comrades.


Please help on this.

That's correct Rick. It may also be open to attached personnel, but i'm not 100% on that. Certainly Branches have non-RWF who are branch members. That's the key….They have to join to be a member of the RWF Comrades Association.

As laid down in the Janury 2014 edition of the RWFCA Objects and Rules all officers and other ranks who have served in any unit of the RWF or RWELSH are classed as an Ordinary Member of the RWFCA. This includes service in Regular and Reserve units, Home Guard and Home Service Force units badged RWF, adult members of ACF units badged RWF or RWELSH and officers and other ranks of Regts or Corps who have been on the strength of the RWF or RWELSH at anytime e.g. AGC, REME, APTC etc. Whilst all are encouraged to join a Branch the RWFCA is all about comradeship so everyone fitting the criteria of an Ordinary Member as outlined above is an RWFCA Comrade. All are welcome at the annual family gathering held in Wrexham ordinarily on the first weekend in September. This bond of friendship manifests itself best in the Branch structure and there are a number of advantages joining a Branch not least, monthly gatherings, subsidised travel to Regimental events such as Battlefield tours, and social events so I strongly encourage all to join a Branch if they possibly can.

What about ex Juniors who joined the Regiment but left te Juniors early due to ill health

Where the rules are not clear the request for membetship will be considered by the Executive Committee.

My personal opinion is that anyone who shares our belief in our famous regiment and displayed the intention to serve, no matter how long he actually served, and meets the conduct standards expected would be well thought of in his/her request.
