wrong way
was looking at the photo comp of the pistol / revolver.. reminded me of a 4 and 5 live firing exercise in warminster on the plain. the demo troops were gurkhas they were doing a bunker busting exercise. all was going well until they went to fire the 66 which was a live heat round... the guy that was firing it had it pointed the wrong way round and sent it back up the range just missing the ds staff and a land rover , the round failed to explode . so we got to blow it up in situ.. just a thort.. anyone else have a close shave ?

Re: wrong way
A certain platoon sergeant demonstrating a claymore mine to his platoon in the USA in 1986 might want to comment - I couldn't possibly!

Re: wrong way
Yes mate it was me that went through the wind screen, no didnt get compo i was just glad not to get busted. we should of shot the farmers and kept the dog. i remember just putting my helmet on and doing up the chin strap., when smack your landrover was on the front of our bonnet i was half way through the wind screen and the engine on our my lap.
thank god i had put my helmet back on, it saved my skull my misses wouldnt say so much though.
yeah good old days. i and the commander went on CO's orders for that luckily we kept our rank and it was chucked out. I think my driver had a £60 fine for careless driving only and not for speeding because the speedo wasn't working and they were only supposed to do 40 miles an hour, but we know they went faster.
yeah ambulance and QRF could find us, if you remember i couldnt walk for about half hour because of the pin that went through my leg, i was taken to hospital but the feeling came back thank god.
I should go for compo, do you think i'll get it after all these years.
