All Soviet badges had a red star in the centre, Ivor.

Sorry, my friend's brother who had the cap has recently passed away, I did want to have a full photo and see if there is any clue on the inside as to it's origin, hopefully in the future I might be abe to do this, thanks again for your help

    Brian,

Sorry to hear about the death of your friend's brother.

The badge is Belgian motorcyclists badge from WWI up to WWII, probably an interwars example and quite rare if the owner ever wants to part with it.

Thanks Si, I asked around and a Belgian friend responded instantly. He supplied the info and he knows his Belgian items.

Thanks for the info, I will pass it on, is the cap in the same "Family"as the badge?, (here I go again) maybe my friend, knowing it not his Fathers, may want to sell, he has no interest in military memorabilia, I will have a word, Thanks again for the find.

Brian, the cap is correct for the badge, minor differences will allow it to be dated more securely.

It is the friend who ID'd it who is interested in it if it was ever available, but I think more pics of the whole cap would also be of interest to him if ever possible.

I was glad to pay a part in solving the mystery!
