been looking at alphabets to see if anything similar cropped up. Nah. But, in Cyrillic Script , Russian. 'M' represents 40. is it possible this is the 40th airborne something.. looking
Sorry, my friend's brother who had the cap has recently passed away, I did want to have a full photo and see if there is any clue on the inside as to it's origin, hopefully in the future I might be abe to do this, thanks again for your help

Good for you mate well done on the research on this, i searched high and low to try and get the bottom of it. I got as far as knowing it was transport intro war years but not the country

Thanks for the info, I will pass it on, is the cap in the same "Family"as the badge?, (here I go again) maybe my friend, knowing it not his Fathers, may want to sell, he has no interest in military memorabilia, I will have a word, Thanks again for the find.

Brian, the cap is correct for the badge, minor differences will allow it to be dated more securely.
It is the friend who ID'd it who is interested in it if it was ever available, but I think more pics of the whole cap would also be of interest to him if ever possible.
