Cyprus - 23535413 L/Cpl B Summers
I am in possesion of the following medals for this Welch Fusilier:
GSM - Cyprus
UN Medal - Cyprus
CSM - Northern Ireland
Can anyone tell me how and when he would most likely have earned them, and does anybody know him?
Did the RWF earn the GSM and UN Medal in one tour to Cyprus?
I would be grateful if anybody has any information.
Many thanks.

I believe this may be Brian Summers ex-MT 1RWF. The Battalion served in Cyprus in 1958 in General service and in 1965 in the UN role. I will see if I can find a photo. Brians Son Paul, also served with the first Battalion in Lemgo.

There is a ex RWF member called Summers I think he is with the Bargoed and Blackwood branch, could he be related to Brian?

Al, he is not on any of the MT photos that I have posted for the UN tour so he may not have been MT at that time. As suggested by tom33 he may have been a storeman. I knew him as MT in Tidworth. Benny, I believe he was from that area so it could be him or his son, who is the member of the branch. Brian would now be well into his 60's.

Vague memory of Brian being a Families Office driver in lemgo with Capt Blewett so the GSM NI is probably pre 1979

Al,
Doesn't his army number suggest that he joined in say the mid sixties. Mine starts as 2415 and I joined in 68. I also remember the name from Tidworth but can not put a face to it.

The "24" start to a number must have lasted years - mine is 2492 - I joined in 91! If the RWF did Cyprus for the GSM in 58 he should be a fifties man. Many thanks for your replies, if there is any other information I would be grateful.

Hi all
If the Paul Summers mentioned as the son is the same person i served with him in the MT and met up with both he and his dad at Bargoed branch christmas function. Paul Davies 01 would be the best way of finding out.
Hope it helps.
