    other peoples music

having to listen to other peoples music can be a very upsetting experience.
there was one bloke in warminster who shall remain nameless[because ive forgotten it] ,who used to get up about half hour before everyone else and stick his record player on full blast and play one of those K.TEL hits of the seventies it was the worst record i'd ever heard, i can still remember thinking ill smash that over your head ,but i never did mainly because he was very big and hard,ap1 named him daddy cool not to his face of course,
daddy cool daddy cool by the darts im going to put it on my mp3

Lady in Bleedin' Red by Chris De effin' Burgh!

God I hate that song, my patrol in Derry 1986 played it non-stop as they imagined serenading their sweethearts with it.

Made up my own words ..... "Never seen you looking so GORMLESS as you did tonight - just like a pile of ****e - you're such a slapper"

    etc

Gwyn would remember this. Limey Hassell in Derry, having his earphones (tape player) on and singing at the top of his voice, eyes shut. The rest of us could hear no music but this din coming from Limey, he was tone deaf and it sounded like cats having a good old scrap. We could never tell what he was singing and he only got the message when we threw stuff at him to shut him up.
A bit like Eddie Murphy on the bus in 48hrs singing Roxanne but ten times worse.

I did the same thing to a yacht crew in the Baltic in 1993, while sailing to Sweden. I came off watch on a beautiful morning and lay down on the foredeck, in glorious sunshine, shorts and T shirt, with my walkman and sang my way through the whole of Bony M's Golden Hits. All the crew could hear was my crooning. At the end of it I asked why everyone was looking at me 'queer' and having had it explained, asked why they didn't stop me. "But you're the Skipper!". RHIP I said!
