Coventry bar turns away funeral soldiers

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-18607764

Cpl Thacker, 27, of 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh, died on 1 June after being shot while manning an observation post in Helmand, Afghanistan.

The funeral for the soldier, who lived in Keresley, Coventry, with his wife Catherine and two-year-old daughter, took place at the city's cathedral on Monday.

His brother Matthew, a member of the same battalion, was among the pallbearers refused service at Browns Independent Bar.

I understand that they were refused also as they were in uniform, after attending his brothers funeral. I would like to know if this bar was owned by white British people or of a non british person or by a ethnic minority person who classes him/herself British to claim the benefits for their families, but when a british person serving their country to protect them turn up they suddenly become another nation. How dare these people refuse to serve anyone over 18 regardless to their dress or gender....this is happening way to often. I know what would have happened to that pub in our time, they would not have had a pub to boycott....however well done to those who were in uniform for holding such restraight and not harming the name of the Royal Welsh and embarrassing the family on such a sad occassion....SO BOYCOTT THE SH--hole

i saw this earlier on facebook and i feel totally disgusted. when i was much younger if a service man came into a bar in uniform not only was he served but probably did'nt even have to pay for it. in all probability the landlord would forget to take his money. i have seen this happen in Wrexham more than once.

I hope the boycott is successful.

The Tw=t and to think what her majesty as done in the last year to help the peace process, even shake the hand of the man that most certainly gave the order to have her own relative killed Lord LMB.

Re: Coventry bar turns away funeral soldiers

From the link in the first post

The owner of the bar, Mr Brown, said: "I can only apologise again to the family and anybody else who was upset during the funeral service.

Just that I'm sorry and that it wouldn't have happened if we had been aware of the funeral at the rear of Brown's, in the cathedral."

Cpl Thacker's widow says she has accepted the apology
    .

A bit of back-pedalling due to the bad publicity perhaps? But if the soldier's wife accepts the apology maybe that should be respected?

To hit national news has proved a point. He has also apologised (brave of him) but the club is slated on any site who report on its place. So proves it is a **** place.
