Fusilier Dean Griffiths

It is with a heavy heart that I inform the forum of the tragic death of Deano Griffiths
Whilst watching the local news on the local TV Station Kent last night, I saw that a soldier from Market Drayton, Shropshire had been killed in a tragic accident on the ranges at Lydd on Wednesday 14 September 2011. On investigation further, I found that the soldier was from the 1st Battalion The Royal We1sh, and has been named as Fusilier Dean Griffiths, 21.
At this sad time I send condolences and those of my family to his partner, family, friends and colleagues.

Re: Fusilier Dean Griffiths
I have been asked to repost this from the Royal Welsh Veterans forum:
It is with great sadness that I must announce the death of Fus Dean Griffiths, 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh. Dean had been participating in an exercise at Lydd Ranges. A team of soldiers were taking part in a live Close Quarter Battle house clearance with live ammunition. A soldier engaged a target and the bullet passed through it and apparently also went through a wall behind it striking Fus Griffiths in the neck. The incident occurred at 1350 hrs on Wednesday 14 September and emergency treatment was administered at the scene. Tragically, Fus Griffiths was pronounced dead by the Air Ambulance crew at 1441 hrs. He was enanged to be married and his fiancee was expecting their first child in a few weeks time. He will be sorely missed by his friends and colleagues alike. My condolences go to his family and fiancee - RIP.
