Different British units became in Lemgo during of the Cold war stationed: 1st air support signal unit (ASSU), 22nd signal regiment (1950-1962), 1st Bn Northumberland Fusiliers (1962-1966), 3rd Bn Queens regiment (Royal Sussex) (1966-1970), 1st Bn The Light Infantry (1970-1974), 2nd Bn The Light Infantry (1974-1978), 1st Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers (1978-1982), 1st Bn Royal regiment OF Wales (1982-1989), 2nd Bn Royal Irish regiment (1989-1993). To 24. August 1993 was closed the military base and the mechanisms to modern residential buildings was converted.

Must of been Berlin we took over from the Black Watch then, one of the things I can remember was some of them had been keeping chickens in the army side boards taken the doors off and replaced them with chicken wire ones !!

We swapped Ballykinler for Berlin with the Black Watch.
Working for yourself is great, not only can you work half days, you can choose which 12 hours!
