lets just say I was hoping that the team of Premiership players, who play for teams you support each week maybe on the terreces or on sky or match of the day could do England and the league proud. However this did not happen and lets just say lost to a team that have brushed aside not only England, but much fancied Argentina. 4 - 0. now if you think the english press and country have gone hard on england then then think again read the press and what the people of argentina and brazil are now saying. Holland V Germany Final. And if Germany win then we'll hear at least we lost to the world champions.

Hingey, the stats dont bear that statement out. Argentina a were looking good for the final in many eyes yet they failed to score against the mighty Germans. England scored (twice) against them. Reading yesterdays news about the rift that has gone on in the English camp I think it is fair to say they would have lost at that stage whoever they played. The fact that it was Germany, who may very well go on to be champions, serves only to save a little face. I still think that it is severe to blame the whole of the English team because one or two bad apples had throw their teddy bears out of the cot, and had come out to give a less than training ground performance. John Terry (for me) is the root cause of Englands failure. True, one man does not (or should not) make a team, but at international level when the slightest weakness or mistake makes the difference they were doomed to fail when JT mouthed off to the press. The Germans were confident about their chances before that so imagine what a boost they got with the press conference. The "Kaiser" must have been rubbing his hands together.

got to slightly disagree,with England being a 6th rate team,i thought when England levelled against Germany they had there tails up and were at that time playing the better football,however for whatever reason the goal was not given,and in the second half England had to go for it and were caught on the break,i certainly think it would have been a totally different game if the goal stood,however they were a better team than Argentina,as we already know the problem simply lies with the amount of foreign players in the premiership,how do the U21s get in a team NO CHANCE so were do England go from here as they certainly have the youth to come through and win something,Theo wallcott not going was no more than a mini disaster he would have upset any defence with his pace,

Told you I'd get the touges whagging!
I'm sticking by my guns England were tired, listless and could only score by power plays. albeit Lampard's goal (disallowed) was a cracker. I'm afraid the team looked out of condition and more the build of a rugby player than a professional footballer on the World stage and they were found wanting. Did anyone watch the documentary on Gazza last night. That was a bunch of men who would have fought and died for each other. The England squad of 2010 were a shadow of that team!

Well now, it really is all over. For me, some of the football has been dire and many of the top players/teams should hang their heads. I truly believe that the ammount of money some of these guys earn is a reflection on how they play the game. They simply are not hungry enough. Many of the players from the poorer countries made their richer counterparts look like cart horses, playing with true spirit and pride even though on paper they did not have a hope of lifting the trophy at the end ofthe competition.
My choice of best player was Diego Forlan though the "pundits" disagreed last night. The reason I picked him (rather than a Spaniard), is because even though he was not surrounded by other highly rated players he was still outstanding with his passion for the game and his individual brilliance.
Spain I thought were excellent and deserved champions but the team (for me) was Germany. A young side with huge potential and I think the Spaniards may find them hard to beat come 2012 (European Championship). England could learn a lot from the Germans by putting some faith in the youngsters instead of sticking with the "experience" (at least Cappello did not play the Neville boys lol) Roll on 2012.

Got to agree with Gwyn,Deigo forlan man of the tournament,simply because he done it with not a lot around him,and Germany will take some beating with that young squad come the europeans,anyway lets not forget England v Wales.

I agree quite dire plenty of disappiontment but the Best Team won overall and Germany deserve congratulating on there entertaining attractive game, just loosing out (off day) 2012 will see them shine! Top Man for me too was Deigo Forlan for the same reasons leadership, drive, comitment and passion sourounded by average talent he shone! Iniesta was a star too but not as bright as Deigo Oh Yer and well done Japan!!!!!
