Thanks, Agree, Disagree etc.
I am a member of other Forums on the "Interweb" and most seem to have lots of options in the "Thanks" button at the bottom of a Post/Thread. Such as Thanks, Agree, Disagree, Yay, Laugh etc etc. Just wondered if the Powers that be have ever thought of adding these to the Royal Welch Forum? It is great that we can thank someone but as good discussions go, it would be nice to agree/disagree with what has been posted or just to laugh when someone says something funny.

I think as far as discussions go, an agree/disagree button would actually turn a discussion into a poll. Surely if you have an opinion whether for or against, it is adds to the discussion if your reasons are aired. Too easy to sit on the fence - the more join in the better the chat.... its good to talk.
If I can help somebody as I pass along, my living will not be in vain.

Hi Gwyn, I have to "disagree" lol. From my experience of Forums those buttons merely add to discussions. As when someone disagrees, whoever posts the disagree gets asked why, or they post the disagree then give their answer later. Just adds to the user experience in my view. Same goes for an agree too. Also some people are "Forum Lurkers" meaning they don't post or write things and just peruse the Forums. Would be a good thing for those people to have an option just to say yay or nay or laugh when a quip is said?

Have to agree with Gwyn on this one. I do not think it is right for someone to anonymously agree or disagree with anything that is put on this forum. As Gwyn has stated people should not sit on the fence. If you have anything constructive to say nobody has an issue if you say it.

Ah but they do, sometimes even based purely on your gender, not your opinion.
I'd also add that an anonymous disagree/agree button would kill an argument or discussion. If someone feels strongly about a subject, as the forum stands now, they add their voice to the thread and the next person will contradict or agree - making some of the threads on the RW Forum a pleasure to read. I've also personally learned a hell of a lot from some of the postings.
The ability to just press a button might make a person less inclined to voice why they chose to agree or disagree.
I like the idea of a "laugh" button :))

Sharon,
The above was all I was trying to say. As for the gender issue, as far as I am concerned it makes no difference to me about gender, color or creed! Still agree with Gwyn though. That's what it's all about.lol.

Re: Thanks, Agree, Disagree etc.
Hmmm, you seem to have misread what agree/disagree buttons are or i never explained correctly. They are the same as the Thanks ones whereby if i hit the Agree button it will be on screen as "The following users agreed with this post" None of the Icons i quoted as being used on other Forums are anonymous. I have found that they do add to discussion/debate in at least 2 other Forums i regularly visit. Also i could have clicked my disagree button on Nasher and Sharons' posts lol!
