Battalion Dentist Lemgo
Is there anyone out there who had dealings with this bloke beside Spock Daniels and myself always remember getting the summonds to see the dentist at the medical centre thought at the time it was strange as I did,nt remember phoning up to make an appointment teeth were OK. Anyway Spocks appointment was before mine and I remember walking up past anti tanks when I saw spock walking towards me holding his head in his arms as he came closer I said to him whats the matter the only word i managed to pick out was "butcher" away I went to the centre sat down got called in to the surgery took another seat and as he walked towards me I said before you go any further I am not having any teeth removed at which point I did'nt realise that an officer a Major at that could come out with such langauge. As he turned a different colour I thought good job this blokes a dentist and not a doctor as he would really find it concerning had he looked int a mirror there and then.Having chucked me out of the medical centre I felt quite pleased with myself having survived that and away I went to the company lines to find a sorry looking Spock sitting on his bed still holding his head.Within 30 minutes I am then summonds to see the CSM Gerry Crocker I thought here we go stick me tabs in and report to him it was a nice sunny day at the time and Gerry must have been in a good mood ( having said that I always found him a fair and good natured bloke) anyway he said to me what had I done to the dentist as he had just had him on the phone ranting and raving my only words were have a look at Daniels and you can see why I p****d the dentist off.The only thing Gerry said to me in reply was Ok but if that tooth plays up you will be on a charge walked out again very pleased with myself if only they did the lottery at the time it would have been 3rd time lucky that day.On a final note the tooth 30 years later is still in place so I wonder what all the fuss was about

Re: Battalion Dentist Lemgo
We always used to get a Dental check prior to going on operations. I remember once prior to our NI Tour of 71, I was summoned to the Dentist down in Roberts Bks, Osnabruck. A quite youngish Capt calls me in and says you need 2 Extracions. We were supposed to have a Coy smoker that evening, I was in bed, in AGONY, I ended up in bed for 3 days, and to top it all off I had to pay for 2 New Pillows due to all the blood on them. Next time I was called was in Aldershot, now thats the Army Trg place for Dentistry. Well I phoned them up and said, I'm phoning on behalf of Cpl Brazier, Im afraid he's on a course and then posted away. After that I refused it. Butchers

Re: Battalion Dentist Lemgo
Just before the Battalion went to Belize I went for a check up. The "Butcher" in Tidworth told me my wisdom teeth were coming through at bad angles and he wanted them out. I said I am off to Belize shortly so he said they would "keep" for six months. On returning to Tidworth, I saw a "Dentist" who said the wisdom teeth were fine and could not understand why the other guy had insisted they be removed. Still have them so I suppose they were not all rejects from The Royal School of Dentistry.

Re: Battalion Dentist Lemgo
There must be a few on the site who can remember when dentists used gas to put you out it was a really horrible experiance,I was always s*** scared of dentists after that. My worst experiance of a military dentist was a female RN (fat & ugly) dentist in Stanley Fort Hong Kong. She was useless, at one stage it was like a comedy (but not funny) in that she had one foot on my chest trying to extract a tooth and she could not remove it. I was in agony and my mouth was swollen to the size of a football. In the end I was dispatched to a dentist at HMS Tamar who thankfully was brilliant and pulled the offending tooth no problem.
