    Golden Oldies

I was listening to Owen Money on BBC Wales today. He telephoned a couple to congratulate them on their 40th Wedding Anniversary. One of the questions he asked was "what was No. 1 when you got married?"

This got me thinking: "What was No. 1 when I was born (no official Chart then!) and what was heading the Charts when I got married?"

Well, when I was born (1949), the top song was Vaughn Monroe, "Ghost Riders in the Sky".

In April 1977, when I got married, the top single was "Abba - Knowing Me Knowing You"

How about the rest of you?

    Hmm!
Born 1952, no official chart yet (started in 53) Here In My Heart - Al Martino

Married Oct. 1975, No. 1 was I Only Have Eyes For You- Art Garfunkel.
Although D.I.V.O.R.C.E. by Billy Connolly was very popular. I'm still married to Rita so Billy did not jinx us.

    Re: Golden Oldies

I was born in Feb 1947 and the hit parade was dominated by the USA.

I married in March 1969 and of course the biggest influence on the music scene was Woodstock.

    Re: Golden Oldies

Well I was born 1949 so same as Bob there. I was married 19 Dec 1971 and on the site I checked UK no 1 was December 5 1971 – January 1 1972 Benny Hill - Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West) 4 weeks at No 1

So I suppose I should have joined a Cavalry Regiment, then I could have had two Nags.Only joking still married to the same girl. And as Gwyn Nicholas often states she deserves a medal.

I was born 19 Nov 1955 and it was that classic - Rock around the Clock by Bill Hayley and the Commets.

Married in May 2003 and it was R Kelly - with Ignition. (Never herd of them).

Gwyn I know it's not a case of "we do'nt talk anymore".
