Does your rank start as a Private or does it have some link to your leaving rank ?

Yes Rich, you start at private but promotion can be quite quick compared to those on a normal engagement, factors such as previous experience does help but also vacancy at the site you go to. If you go to a new site promotion can be quite quick. Also a lot of people will start at any site waiting for something closer to home to come along and that will create promotion as they move on. I was a LCPL with in 6 months and should pick up substative CPL in less then 2 years (currently local).

I tried to enlist a few years back, but cause of age was not accepted.

It used to be that you could have been out up to 10 years, this has now changed to 6 years, however if you have been in the TA or done some kind of security work this may count as time served.

Yes mate, Pat is at RAF at the moment, there is also Chris Roberts, Jason Owen, Paul Jones 80 and mad mitch used to be here but has got out but is apprently trying to come back in.

Hi Milke, been here at Donnington now 8yrs, not a bad word to say about the job. Also have another 2 ex RWF Russ Evans 60 ex dog handler in Ballykinler and Pete Thomas 16 ex A Coy Iraq tour.
