it might not seem like the right time but wearing berry and hackle with civilian style clothing must be classed as mixed dress , i look forward to 252 Action after the parade

I can see where Major Ellingham is coming from, He wants a "sea" of white hackles on parade for that day. I for one will be wearing my dark beret and hackle and dressed accordingly (Led sod the 252's on mixed dress) as I am proud to be a former member of the once "Senior Infantry Regiment of Wales" and a member of one of the finest Regimental Comrades' Association. So come on Comrades' let us all try and make the effort for this grand day and show the young serving members' of our 1st Bn that we are proud of them all and the Regiment that we all once served so graciously in. We must support the RWFCA and Major Ellingham on this one.

Well said Benny and if every Comrade who marches wears a beret & hackle I think it will be a show of strength on our part. However I wouldn't want this provio to put those who don't have a beret & hackle off and deter them from marching - lets pack the streets with Comrades and as Benny said show the young Fusiliers in the 1st Bn how proud we are of the ROYAL WELCH FUSILIERS

I think the idea of a berry and hackle is a good one and I agree it will look fantastic. However, our time spent in the Royal Welch Fusiliers shouldn't be judged on whether we own a berry and hackle or not.

I would have thought a split into two platoons to march around Wrexham ought to be fine - those with a berry and hackle and those without.

I have long hair so does this mean I have to get a haircut to march with my friends? Let's keep the rules to a minimum. We all had enough when we were in; let’s not have rules and orders now we are out!

I hope nobody gets offended by this, but if we stop the guys who fought in the war from marching around Wrexham because the don’t have a berry or hackle; it's indeed a sad state of affairs.

    Cheers all

    Led

Could some one post the dress rules for the Standard Bearers as I have never seen it? If we dont conform to the British Legion Manual for dress parades why is it that on the standard bearers comp the marking and parade outline is taken from this manual, Im getting quite confused over this, does this mean that I have lost points during the comp for applying the dress code set out in the Standard Bearers Bible?????? If it is to be grey trousers is it Light Grey, Dark Grey, Ordinary Grey or Charcoal Grey????? Im sure the RBL got it right when they stated Black only, but thats only my thoughts.

I agree I would be proud to stand next to Rik & Led on any parade with or without the Hackle as we did in Derry in 86!

PS But a sea of white would be fantastic

Guys, who realy cares if you wear a beret and hackle or not , surely the most important part is being there and taking part, Making those numbers count, and making Wrexham as proud as they always have been of serving members and comrades marching through the town. ENJOY IT AT LEAST YOU CAN BE THERE beret or no beret.

    Hello All,
Re the dress code for the freedom of Wrexham. As stated it is an RWF parade. It may well be the code differs from that set out by the RBL. Another point of interest I vaguely remember an old custom of the P.B.I and also of the RWF that is " Always obey the last order"
    Regards Don
