Sitrep
What are you all up to these days?
I joined up at 15, left at 38, bit of a shock really, the only civvy job I'd had was a newsround!
Took up calligraphy whilst still serving, got quite good, people would take my work to be framed. Had our own framing dept in RWF, the Regt Pioneers used to do it. Started to think that this might be a good thing to get into when I grew up!
Long story, but it came off, this is our second shop.
Come on SPILL, how have things turned out for other ex-members.
It's not that I'm nosey - It's that I'm VERY VERY nosey!!!!

Re: Sitrep
Good to see that all is going well with you, do I get some of the proffits as I trained you to do the framing, etc. I had my owm carpentery workshop and was doing well but was given a better job still in that line just like the Pioneers, what ever they want do it and make them pay, ny office is in Warwick and live in Shrewsbury, but the money is good.

Gordon Bennet - 'COURSE I remember you. My wife remembers you and she only met you once, St Davids day 1993 Sgts mess ball, she still talks about the drums display. She'd never been to any sort of internal miltary do like that - she was gobsmacked!
I've still got the programme/menu in a drawer somewhere, must get it framed.
Guest house looks great - nice website too. That is our next move - a website, in the process now, and about time, I'll stick it on here when it's up and running.

Glad to hear all is well with you too. Don't fancy your commute much though.
I live a 5 minute walk from the shop, don't leave home til 0850 usually.
Keep it coming folks................

Glad you are so successful, as you know I'm just a mere caretaker in the TAC in Queensferry
Great to hear from you John.

Re: Sitrep
Daisy,
U cannot possibly just 'end it there' you MUST out of decency to the rest of the forum membership who have followed this 'SITREP' thread, explain how it is possible that you can have acquired the nickname 'Daisy'!

That's 'COULD have acquired' .... past tense!
Turner is not a very common name in the Bn - or wasn't when I was in it, a few weeks or even days before I joined, a guy in the MT named Turner left - he was nicknamed 'Daisy' - I dunno why and I don't care - but a full screw in 4 pl named Dickinson immediately christened me with the same nickname - it stuck! I hated it - obviously - much preferred my IJLB nickname of 'Ike' (as in ..... and Tina Turner)
I hate this nickname so much that if it sticks again here - I'll leave the forum in a heartbeat and never attend another reunion and I don't give a stuff what anyone thinks of that!
Anyway - to keep on topic - what's your SITREP?
Anyone????

Re: Sitrep
Hi John, thats heck of a story, why would you have the nickname "Ike" in IJLB. Would it be OK if we called you "Tina" instead? it somehow feels more appropriate? Have you a website yet?
