    Louis Williams Boxing Belt Found!!!

Firstly, apologies for creating a new post on same subject.(Couldnt find 1st one!)

It gives me great pleasure to inform the lads who knew Louis Williams, that I have been contacted regarding the whereabouts of the memorial belt. Firstly can I say that the person who contacted me wishes to remain anonymous for no other reason than, they were given the belt in good grace. It was given to the person during a transit period on the belief that it would not be awarded again due to the amalgamation. The person who handed over the belt to the other member also did so in good faith. Reading the post on Louis Williams from some of the old and bold weighed heavily on the mind of the recipient of the belt.

He contacted me and asked would I, on his behalf, request that the belt be given back to Louis' family, as it is much more precious to them. The forum member is going to drop the belt off with me and I will of course pass it on to any member who can restore it to its rightful place, with the family. When I receive it, I can deliver the belt anywhere in the Wrexham area whilst in work, or will arrange its movement further afield.

I would like to reiterate that the member wanted to return the belt as soon as he read the thread, but had not been on the forum for some time. I hope that you will all understand that I have been asked not to disclose who the members who gave/received the belt, but please be assured that was done in good faith. Im sure you will all respect this.

    Cheers

    Scouse

It does seem a that it won't be presented again one Idea might be to place it along side his Mess Dress in the Cpl's Mess. If this is not possible I would be honoured to return it to his family maybe other Forum members who knew Lou would like to join me in this task.

    Richie,

Any decision on the belt will obviously need to be made by yourself and others who knew Louis, and what you, his friends feel is best. I am merely acting on behalf of another member who wants to return the belt mate.

I can respect the wishes of the the family, but being one of the old and bold, I can remember that during the 1st Bn novices boxing competition, that the best novice got the honour of winning the the belt? I totatlly agree with the family, if this tradadition is not carried on within the 1st Bn ,because of operational commitments, then the family should find a "Pride and Place " for Lou's belt. God Rest his Soul.

    Is it an open debate?

Isn't the belt on the Red Dragon Property books? I know of the belt as i've engraved it with the name of the best novice boxer a few times.

    This is REF another Item.

When my son passed away there was a trophy encased in a box with his picture in it, and was held in the Red Dragon, it was next to the bell when i last saw it.

It was the Keegan Lee Memorial trophy, presented to the person who had done the most for the Football club that season.

If any 1 knows if it is still around, and presented could they please let me know, if it is just in a box some where, would it be possible for me to get it back, was a nice little trophy encased by Wire 75, and i think engreaved by Bri Brazier.

Like The Louis Williams belt, people don't think of the families when they give things away, and with this great forum there is plenty of ways to find people.

Well done Scouse did chuckle and narrow the list down ha ha

Having known Lou, and watch him box the belt was the ideal trophy in his memory, like Richie I would like to have seen the Best Novice continue but if it does not then yes it should go to the family.

The most important thing is that trophy/awards like this must not be inadvertently forgotten and if a time comes that they are no longer competed for then the family should take priority and be given it as then it would be sure to find pride of place.

And yes having the forum would very much help with the ability to ensure this happens.

Re: Louis Williams Boxing Belt Found!!!

    Bri,

I am not sure if it is still accounted for on any books etc. This is why I have asked for people in the know, and the people who knew Louis to advise me. I will do what I am instructed to, my only involvement will be to pick up the belt and hand it over to whoever you want me to. I know this is an emotional subject but I will obviously not be involved in any of the decision making process.

Basically, a member wishes to return the belt to whoever you all feel it should be returned to. If any of the 'older and bolder' want to organise a debate/decision, then just let me know what you want me to do. Hope this helps.

p.s...Dont shoot the messenger or in this case the 'middle man!!'

Re: Louis Williams Boxing Belt Found!!!

Maybe the option should be put to the family first? If the Bn had time to bring back novice boxing i'm sure they would like to see the belt used for what it was intended for. Only my opinion, but things do fall by the wayside and then come back years later i.e Top Dog.
