Government asks public to take in ukraine refugees

So will they lead by example then, sure there are plenty of them with second and third homes with loads of rooms going spare and if they lead by example you can bet their expenses will go through the roof claiming all their utilities bills back

I also don’t understand how this £350 payment works does that go to the householder himself if it does wouldn’t have thought that would even cover the extra on utility bills if you had an extra four people living with you

I wonder if it would be possible to compulsory requisition some seasonal, holiday accommodation? Whilst not ideal it might do in the short term, especially with summer coming up; until a more permanent solution could be found. I am sure its not as easy as that but it could be an option.

As with most plans/ideas that government ministers come up with, it would appear to be an idea floated without really thinking through the scheme and forming solid detail A knee jerk reaction to a given situation in order to appear to be on top of the situation, with no clear direction or leadership given as how the scheme will operate.

A statement from the government has just been made which to a degree clarifys the situation. You would only be providing accommodation for at least 6 months, the monthly payment is non taxable and also will not effect any benefits that you recieve. However, you do need to name the person or persons you are taking in.

I cannot imagine the fiddling that will go on and the MILLIONS of pounds which will be handed over by civil servants to fraudsters!
