Witch-hunt prosecutions of Northern Ireland veterans are set to be banned
Government figures believe that the cases are unlikely to result in convictions because some evidence is nearly 50 years old and inadmissible.
The bill is set to be unveiled in the Queen’s Speech.
Any exemption would also apply to ex-IRA members.
It comes as the murder trial of two ex-paratroopers accused of murdering IRA commander Joe McCann collapsed after just six days.
A Whitehall source told The Telegraph: “We have been working extremely hard to deliver on our manifesto commitments in relation to addressing the legacy of the Troubles for both victims and veterans.
They have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind

SHOCKING REVELATION BY BBC TONIGHT: I was watching’Saved by a Stranger’ tonight about a Belfast guy who was shot by the IRA in Belfast in the early 70s and was trying to find the Nurse on the ward who helped him through the 15 weeks he was on the ward, just to thank her, because he was discharged so quickly he had no time to say it at the time. It has played on his mind for the 40 or so years since.
Anyway, during the programme they were at Musgrave Park Hospital, just before 1st Lockdown, trying to find details of the nurse. They were told that would not be possible because all the records of 30 or more years - medical - personnel - financial, the whole caboodle, were destroyed a long time ago!
With what we know now, about incidents from those times being resurrected by scumbag lawyers, I find that they were allowed to destroy the records ABSOLUTELY incredible and I know Tony Blair MUST have had something to do with it?

After reading this it makes one wonder how much evidence is actually still intact, given if they have destroyed medical records. For those killed they would have had post mortems performed, giving entrance / exit wounds where applicable, then there is the forensic evidence, plus witness statements etc.
Are they now basing their prosecutions on statements made by witnesses 40 plus years after the events, the more I read just re-enforces my belief that these prosecutions are being politically driven and now best described by the heading of this post a " Witch Hunt ".
