    Police and crime commissioners

See that the Home Secretary has declared war on these so called Commissioners many of which were nowhere to be seen during the pandemic even though police officers were carrying out their duties. Is there anybody out there who has a good Crime Commissioner or think like me they are a complete waste of time and money

This is what they earn and there’s 41 of them
The BBC research reveals that the salaries of the majority of the PCCs are between £70,000 and £85,000, although the commissioners overseeing the three major forces of Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and West Midlands each receive £100,000

Purely and simply political activists used as a tool to cause an overall and irrefutable increase in the cost of governing this now failed country.

I would MOST STRONGLY challenge the claim that they EARN GBP100,000 a year each. They most certainly get PAID that amount but the country needs to have a huge debate on whether they DO ANYTHING to EARN what they get PAID!

    Re: Police and crime commissioners

Agree with this thread. The Cheshire Crime Commissioner instigated a complaints investigation and subsequent disciplinary proceedings into the Chief Constable of Cheshire. Initially this was 30 plus complaints mainly because he had spoken aggressively towards fellow officers. This eventually after over 18 months investigation this was amended to 2. Which eventually the disciplinary board found no case to answer. By the time the investigation and disciplinary case had ended the Chief Constable's contract had expired 12 months prior.
This case instigated by the Crime Commissioner cost thousands of pounds, a later internal investigation into the Crime Commissioners actions came to the conclusion that his decisions in bringing the case were poorly based and should not have been brought.
He of cause disputed this and claimed that the actions were brought to order to maintain public transparency in the operations of the Cheshire Constabulary
Not only had this action cost thousands of pounds but the people of Cheshire had been contributing to the pay of the County's Chief Constable for 2 years whilst on gardening leave, the complaints were investigated by another force whose investigation concluded that he had no cases to answer, but the Crime Commissioner still continued to prosecute the case.

    Re: Police and crime commissioners

While they did have elections for these posts the people who got the jobs were de facto political appointments, as a result they are unshiftable and politicians nowadays have such thick skins that resignation is the very last resort over such things as failing to do the job!

    Re: Police and crime commissioners

These political commissionaires (sounds like something from Stalins days) should be done away with,as somebody pointed out thats is what Chief Constables are there for,the budget for theses people comes from the budget of the police, thus the police force having less money to do their job.Boris said he wants to get rid of them so lets hope he does
