    Major James Parsons RWF

Members this has been passed to me.

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Major James Parsons, who died peacefully on 31st July after a long illness, aged 63.

James joined 1RWF in March 1974 as a platoon commander in A Company. He was Adjutant 1984-5 and then attended the Staff College. His final command in the 1st Battalion was B Company in Ballykinler and Berlin in 1989-91. His military service included various staff jobs and two tours flying helicopters in the Army Air Corps. James retired from the army in 1993 and moved into banking in London. In later life, James became an accomplished potter at the Watts Gallery, where he much enjoyed teaching and demonstrating his craft.

He leaves three daughters Sarah, Louise and Elizabeth, and his greatly supportive friend and companion Karen.

There will be a farewell service and celebration of James’s life at 1100hrs on Monday 20th August at The Watts Gallery, Down Lane, Compton, Guildford GU3 1DQ

Numbers at The Watts Gallery are limited, so please contact Judy at RHQ, Wrexham Judith.Gater805@mod.gov.uk

    Regards

    Laura

A truly wonderful man and officer, I had the privilage of serving with Major Parsons in the Creggan Camp Londonderry tour, then he went off I believe to become a Pilot in the AAC. He will be sadly missed by all.
