Re: Normandy Veteran Jack Bellis passed away peacefully 5th August aged 102

John ‘Jack’ Bellis, a proud Royal Welchman and Royal Welch Fusilier Comrade passed away at a great age of 102 on Sunday night.

On 15 March 1940 Jack was called up and became, 4199505 J Bellis, 8th Bn Royal Welch Fusilier and reported for training at Hightown Barracks, Wrexham. On completion of his training Jack was seconded to the 2nd Battalion Kings Shropshire Light Infantry and saw action on D Day where he landed on SWORD beach. After he was demobbed Jack returned to Wrexham and married. He has five children and in his words “too many grandchildren.” Jack was a member of the Normandy Veterans, Royal Welsh Fusiliers Comrades Association and the British Legion.

Jack was the Royal Welch Fusiliers Comrades Association - Wrexham Branch oldest member and was always proud to wear his Comrades Attire and attended Armistice day and Remembrance Sunday parades with pride to remember his fallen comrades. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Jacks family at this very sad time.
