    Research - help required

Does anyone in their senior years remember an incident in the early to mid 1950s of a Fusilier at Singapore Base Camp tracking down and killing a huge python up a tree at the base camp in order to make his mother a snake skin handbag. If anyone can let me know whether mum got her handbag and the name of the fusilier I would be most grateful. His efforts should be remembered in Regimental History! - unlike so many others.
    All the best for 2018

HOW THE MILITARY DEALS WITH SNAKES - FOOTNOTE

    Royal Welch Fusiliers

Fusilier orders snake to appear on show parade with defaulters.

Mesmerizes snake by waving hackle in one hand and flash in the other.

Continues to confuse snake by shouting at it in Welsh.

[Snake - dw i ddim yn siarad Cymraeg- {don’t speak Welsh}].

Fusilier then kills snake with large Leek [St David’s day].

Then skins snake and gets local craftsman to make into handbag for his Mum.

Mum gets handbag in the post from Son, doesn’t like the smell, flogs it at the ‘Car Boot’ donates the proceeds to the “Save the Snake charity”.
