European armed force
The conservative government is going full blast on their plans for an E.U. armed force, we have an aircraft carrier with no planes, the air force is not up to strength, what will happen to the british regiments when the full intergration has happened, the EU can declare war on a country without any single country having a say, dangerous stuff, all the power will be in the hands of the bureaucrats who were not voted in. Worried you should be

Re: European armed force
Was under the impression that the U.K. is dead against this as it would undermine NATO

Re: European armed force
Where [and when] did this come from haven't seen it on the [bad] news, have I missed somthing? Also unless we are fighting for our lives or being bombed to 'Buggery', the Armed Forces have always been under strength in so called peacetime.

Re: European armed force
But so far the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Portugal and Malta have yet to sign up to the deal, which is seen by some as the next step towards a fully fledged EU Army.
After it is formally launched next month, PESCO will be another in a series of already complex relationship between some EU Member States and NATO.
British defence chiefs have previously vowed to veto any creation of an EU Army, with Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon saying in 2016 such a force would serve as a “rival to NATO”.
But the UK’s impending departure from the bloc has given France and Germany the opportunity to march forward with their plans.

Re: European armed force
Certainly rejected by our 3 services, also recall from the original report that it was to be commanded by a senior French Officer, with his 2i.c., being German.

That's what I thought at the time. However, that old saying comes to mind " Whoever pays the piper plays the tune ".

Re: European armed force
The French have always been reluctant to got involved in other countries problems unless it concerns them and even then they send in the legion so if casualties are sustained they can assure the French public that other then the officers being French the troops are effectively foreign nationals in the main, never worked with the French and no doubt they have good troops but in the main from books that I have read their leaders can’t be trusted we’ll just have to wait and see
