Pte Sidney George Smith 4179801
Private Sidney George Smith 4179801
Can anyone tell me please how I get a copy of the service records for the above? His family holds a short note saying that he had enlisted in the RWF on 9th March 1917 in Swansea, aged 17. He re-enlisted 'in the field' on 10th February 1919 and was discharged on 31st March 1921. No battalion is mentioned.
Many thanks, Ann

As he was still serving in 1920, his service record will be in Glasgow. Further instructions here:

Hope this helps.

Below is the link. Scroll to the appropriate section. I'm told it takes months for a reple and there is a cost involved (30quid?)
His wartime RWF number was 77297 and he served with 4th Bn. Address of 4 Matthews Street, Swansea. I'll post more of an explanation later on.

edit: sorry for the duplicate John, I didn't see you had replied
