Maj E.R.L Jones Delta Coy
Anyone know where "Punchy" went?
Delta company commander in Kowloon 1969 - 1971.
What an inspiring leader.
Always remember the boxing matches. He took on his driver, from Bangor???

Hi Bob,
He is in London and a member of the London Branch, However he is a private person and we only see him on special occasions I'm sure he wouldn't mind me saying he has not
been in the best of health of late. I agree a great Officer and friend and a gutsy sparring partner with whom I shared many rounds with.

Re: Maj E.R.L Jones Delta Coy
Hi Tony
Many thanks for the info.
I was only 19 at the time and he had a great influence on my attitude.
I'm sure that others would agree.
Regards,
Bob

Re: Maj E.R.L Jones Delta Coy
Feel a bit of a fraud compared to you veterans.
Joined to record my late father's (the late Captain William Cochran Cochran's) service with RWF 29th January 1938 (Shanghai) to 9th January 1946 (discharge with Honorary Rank of Captain, UK).
Thank you for all the Newletters etc. The latest caught my eye as it mentions Lt Col Evan Roderick Llewellyn Jones, of whom I must admit I was (disgracefully) not previously aware of the RWF connection. I had the pleasure of meeting this gentleman in a professional capacity a number of times 1995-2005 when, despite his age and a gammy leg, he was conducting humanitarian missions in very unhospitable foreign territories.
One of the most selfless, honourable, professional, nicest and truest gentlemen you could ever wish to meet. Much admired by myself and a number of colleagues who had the pleasure of dealing with him.
Do hope you do not mind me getting that off my chest.
Thank you RWF people. What a great bunch. Proud to be allowed to be a member of this Forum.
Thank you again and best wishes.
Dennis Cochran.

Re: Maj E.R.L Jones Delta Coy
Thanks Dennis, a fine tribute.
Without wishing to detour from this thread. Your father? Which Bn was he with during WW2? 2RWF perhaps?

My pleasure entirely AP1. A great man. If you can go to my "My Forum Posts" 27th February 2011 19:20 and the "PDF" Attachment you will find a full (and very amateurish) history of my late father's service. Thank you. Advance RWF. Dennis.
