Hi all, posted this on FB for info and in an effort to offer up wide attendance.
Burma Star AGM - National Aboretum Sat 14th May. For the last few years, Welshpool Comrades(myself, Colin Rogers and Richie 64) have been taking our two Burma Vets to the National AGM of the Burma Star Association held at The Arboretum. To put this in context, Harold(1st Bn) and Ted MM(2nd Bn) are the only two men from the several thousand RWF men who fought in the Burma Campaign, who are still able to make the journey. Indeed along with Capt John Steen MBE and a gentlemen in Newport, to our knowledge, they are the only survivors, all the rest have long since passed.
If you're at a loose-end next Sat and fancy spending time with two brilliant guys, stick your regi tie's on and turn up to the Arboretum, and meet a real bit of RWF History. These two old guys are representing the whole regiment and they won't be with us for ever. We'll be there for 1030hrs, the meeting commences at 1100hrs, followed by a short service at the Burma Memorial at approx 1200hrs in the presence of Viscount Slim (son of Bill).
