    Clarry Davies 1st Monmouthshire Regiment

It is with regret that my Dad, Clarry Davies, passed away peacefully on New Years Day aged 93. My Dad enlisted into the 1st Mons on the news of the Munich Crisis in 1938, aged 15 as a Bugle Boy. The Recruiting Sergeant exercising a degree of latitude as his 16th birthday was some months later. My Dad served throughout WW2, including a period in the Maritime as a Gunner.

Following demobilisation, he proactively supported the Royal British Legion, serving as Services Chairman for many years. Dad was proactive in the in the 1st Mons Old Comrades Association and later the RRW Old Comrades becoming a Life Vice President of the Newport Branch. Dad served as a RRW Standard Bearer and will also be remembered for blowing the bugle at many Association meetings, Armatice and other Comrade gatherings.

My Dad is survived by his wife Edna. My sisters and I would welcome Comrades to attend the celebration of Dad's life and I will publish details of details here as soon as they are known.

    kind regards
    Paul Davies

Thanks for the information Paul, our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

I've emailed RHQ at Cardiff who collectively administers all the antecedent regiments under the banner "Royal Welsh", although I'm sure they were already aware. Also re-posted on the Forum's FB page.
