    Exclamation Memory lane

The RWF comrades reunion last weekend was only the third I'd done since I left 22 years ago - it's not easy when you're this far away running your own business. This year though, we had a mini S Georgia reunion within - and knowing Jinx 38 and a few others were coming was enough to get my sorry ar$e up there.

The journey up was dismal, it took me two hours to get off the M25 on to the M40. I'd decided to return home through Wales, visiting a few places from my past on the way. It was 50+ miles further but they were fun miles!

First stop was Park Hall Oswestry were I joined the army as a junior leader aged 15, the place has long gone but a few buildings remain, the low modern-looking building centre right was the Officers Mess and is now Oswestry Rugby club and the large wooden buildings were our main gymnasiums; now used for agricultural shows. The photo was taken from the site of the armoury, which I took mental bearings from to work out where everything I once knew was, it was extremely strange, I'd last stood in these spots 43-45 years ago.

This place, the site of the old armoury, is now a garden in memory of Neil (George) Wilson who lived in Oswestry, ex Sig Pl, ex IJLB Park Hall. I never knew him whilst serving but the last reunion I attended before this one, incorporated a sig pl reunion and he was there - we swapped quite a few PMs here on this forum before we met, which I have saved.

I said hello from all of us.

I know what you mean about the M25/M40 Junction…Shambles.

The reunion was excellent this year. Even our two WW2 vets thought it was potentially the best they've attended(50+)
Have you ever considered joing the London Branch? Especially if you can persuade a couple of other boys from the south to attend specific London events that you quite fancy.
