A Friend has found a Forage/side cap, with badge, thinks it belonged to his late Father, his, or maybe "spoils of war", looks German with bones making up the letter "M", Iv'e looked all over the web with no luck, his dad was from Liverpool, no idea what Regiment he served with, any ideas?, thanks
Hi Guy's.
A real challenge. But looking at the picture it would seem possible that there is a ''tassel'' on the other side of the Cap. can you confirm this or not. If there is then i would think it may be A Musician's Badge. But as to the country of origin...well Spain, Italy or possibly Greece... no real idea
hi
have tweaked the image a bit not sure it helped very much. but the loop between the uprights is crossed by something which makes it look more like an 'O'
I think this could be Polish/German possibly a medical unit, I'll keep searching and i'll let you know if something comes up
I did thik at first it may have been austro/hungry
It's not in my two books on German badges, Si. The wings appear to be of a non-German type. Besides, German badges always had the swastika hidden away somewhere in the design.
Not nazi period German, and not something from earlier that I remember seeing. Some other foreign nation is still my best guess, but seeing all of the cap might help narrow it down and allow an ID to be made. It is not as far as any of my books show a badge from any of the combatant nations of WWII, perhaps a nation that did not fight then or from an earlier or later period.
