L/Cpl Wiiliam Hopwood
A Royal Welch guy Tony Denic has asked on RWF PALS if anyone has any information on 59626 L/Cpl William Hopwood Royal Welch Fusiliers particularly from 1920 onwards. Any information would be gratefully recieved. Thanks.

Re: L/Cpl Wiiliam Hopwood
According to the BWM/VM Roll, Pte (T/Cpl) William Hopwood 59623 served with the Infantry Reserve Depot, India. He received only the BWM, which means he did not serve in a theatre of war (the requirement for the VM).
No service or pension records found.

Re: L/Cpl Wiiliam Hopwood
The Enlistment Register (from 1920) has a William Bassett Hopwood 4202727, enlisted 13/06/1940 and discharged MU (KR 390/xvi) 27/01/1946. Not sure it's the same man, though.

Re: L/Cpl Wiiliam Hopwood
I have only picked up on 59623 Hopwood as being at 104 Shrewsbury Rd, Market Drayton in the Shropshire Absent Voters Register.
Re the WW2 era one there is a death registered of William Bassett Hopwood at Wresham in 1992. Born 1913. A likely candidate?
