    New Colours 1954

Just back from visiting Jennifer's uncle. He was in the RWF from 1952 for national service. In his time he was on parade for the Presentation of Colours in 1954.

I have just scanned in the booklet and thought you would be interested in this page. Some very well know names here.

    Hello Pete,
As your page shows the new colours were presented to the 1st 2nd and 4th battalions R W F. I had some great nights out in Marlborough etc.
This was the last time I had a drink with Tony Ridings. I have an album of photos from this day. Plus a page of the Queen's speech of this parade. As you so rightly observe a lot of R W F stars were on this parade. I very much doubt we will see their like again
    Regards jungle1810

The first name that jumps out at me…Maj CO Hilditch. A 1st Bn Company Commander in the far east campaign. Injured at Donbaik in 1943 and suffered a severe head wound at Kohima on that fateful day on the 5th May 1944 when his company(Bravos), attempted to take Kukis Piquet and the bulk of 12 Platoon were wiped out.
