Formation of Treorchy/Rhondda Association Branch

Hi,

Since my return to the Rhondda, Trebanog, from Solihull West Midlands, I have been made aware that there is a sufficient number of ex RWF/RRW personnel in the Treorchy/Rhondda area to justify the establishment of a new Association Branch.

Support is abundant from RHQ Wrexham and the Trustees and based on this support, in addition to my appointment of Secretary London Branch RWFCA, I have arranged a meeting for Wed 20th Aug, 1300hrs at the Cardiff Arms Pub Treorchy with Wally Jones 15, Stu Vincent and Bob Dando.

This initial meeting is a RWF/RRW venture with a view to forming a Royal Welsh Comrades Branch whilst retaining individual identity. When on parade, Identity would be observed by the wearing of our Regimental Cap Badges, Ties and Blazer Badges and the appropriate Branch Standard obtained from RHQ should we succeed with this new venture.

The establishing of a Royal Welsh Branch in the Rhondda would in no way have any restriction. Any ex service personnel, Regular/TA, male/female, regardless of Cap Badge, would be made most welcome and cordially invited to the arranged meeting Wed 20th Aug.

Lt Col Bob Lloyd has indicated that he will mention the venture and support our proposal at the reunion AGM on 6th Sep, which I will be attending. Before any grant would be forthcoming from RHQ, however, we would have to appear credible and identify a caretaker responsible body. To this end, I have included the provisional appointments on the agenda for Wed 20th Aug: President: Wally Jones 15, Chairman: Stu Vincent/Bob Dando, Secretary: I'm staying with London Branch but will carry out the necessary until a suitable incumbent is found, Treasurer: Stu Vincent/Bob Dando. These appointments are purely provisional in order to get the new Branch off the ground - a complete Committee election would take place once the new Branch is established.

I would dearly love to see as many ex service vets, whatever cap badge, on the 20th Aug in order that I can take all our proposals to the Association Chairman and Trustees at the AGM on 6th Sep.

If you're in Treorchy on Wed 20th Aug around 1300hrs, pop into the Cardiff Arms and support the forming of a new Rhondda Branch!
