Any old records/diaries need typing up?

Just wondering if I can help in any way. I am a full time mum but the kids have now started school so if anyone knows of any old records/diaries or anything like that that should be typed up that I could possibly help with can they pass me any details.

My hunt for information about my grandfather in WW2 as a RWF has drawn a blank and as his records are almost blank I can't see us every finding out what he did but I would be happy to help preserve other information about other servicement for future generations if I can help even just a little bit.

Hi Annie, don't give up on the research. As time goes by, we may uncover a little more about him. In regards to assistance, thats very kind of you. Actually I have an idea of re-publishing selected articles from the collection of Red Dragon Magazines that we have in our online vault. The magazines go back to the 1920's and some of the articles have a real relevance the centenary of WW1 and the 70th year since the D Day Landings! They are in PDF, so it would be good to build a small group in word, that we can publish on here and on Facebook/Twitter for the general public to read.

Al, if your pdfs are image based instead of text based, copy-paste won't work too well. In that case you will need an OCR program such as ABBYY FineReader or Omnipage (FreeOCR willl do if you can extract the images from the pdf).

I won't run off. I might as well do something useful.

I am just about to try and find out what is happening with our local war memorial because it is in the grounds of the CofE Church and they have been researching the 16 WW1 names on it and are hoping to have their research all available for people to go and view over the summer. I have to confess I have no idea whereabouts the memorial is, I didn't realise we had one, I thought there was just the main one down in the centre of town but this one is for our little area (we are 2-3 miles out of the centre). If I find out any are RWF I will let you know.
