Elizabeth Cross
I've been asked to do some digging into the Presentation of the Elizabeth Cross (EC) to relatives of the under mentioned soldiers who were serving with 1RRW in the early 70's. The Medal Office has confirmed that neither of these 2 have had EC's presented to their relatives. The difficulty I now face is trying to track down any surviving family members. If anyone is able to shed some light on where we might find members of their families, we can then start the process to get EC's presented to the families of these soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.1. 24150656 Pte Alan Roy ROGERS 1RRW Died 13 Feb 1971 RTA 2. 24143355 Pte John Tecwyn Herbert WILLIAMS 1RRW Died 14 Jul 1972 GSW in Gun Battle with IRA. Thank you

Re: Elizabeth Cross
JTH Williams was buried in Brondeifi Churchyard, Lampeter, Ceredigion - Would be the first geographic location I would start looking for family

No, been advised to let sleeping dogs lie. If relatives have not come forward following the media attention at the launch of the EC, it has been seen as their wish not to go ahead with applying for the award. Thanks to all who may have been looking for clues as to where their relatives might be. There are many out there who would rather forget.
