    Ist Bn Band CD

I finaly got round to listening to a CD last night that I have had for some years, I found it brought all kinds of memories flooding back of my time in the Regiment, I am sure a lot of members out there will have the same CD but not listened to it right through as I had not until last night.
The CD was I believe the last one made by the band, it was made in celebration of the tercentinary of the Royal Welch Fusiliers in 1989 it is titled: "The Royal Welch Fusiliers 1689 to 1989, To The Beat of A Drum"
On the CD are the 1st Bn Band, the Blaenavon Male Voice Choir and Cliff Morgan Narrator.
I believe it is one of the best millitary band CD's ever made and certainly the best that the 1st Bn made, it has all the music you would expect and some you dont with the added bonus of an excellant male voice choir and an excellant narration by Cliff Morgan.
It highlights the salient points of the history of the regiment in between the music and singing.
If you have this CD get it out and lift your spirits, if you do not have it try and get it it is woth the effort, by the way I found it is best listened to accompanied by a glass or two of whiskey but thats optional.
It is a Bandleader CD and the number is I think BNA 5026.
    Happy listening,
    Joe.

    Hi Joe,
I remeber making this CD in Cwrt - y - Gollen. We were in Ballkinler at the time and the Bandmaster asked me if I wanted to play the fife tunes on the CD, so I weighed up the pro's and cons and I agreed to spend a week in Wales. He threw me the music as I was getting on the copter for Newry. When I got back a few weeks later, it was the three S's and off to Wales. When we got there he asked if I'd learnt the music. I said not yet and the cheeky so and so asked what on earth I'd been doing for the past few weeks. I said I would be ready for rehearsals, but I spent the night in The Bell getting slaughtered. But everything went OK. Just a memory jogger for me as well.
    regards
    Dai

    Hi Dai,
I am not being patronising but you should be proud of your part in making the CD, as I am sure you are aware the band did not make that many recordings mores the pity and as the years go on we tend to forget that our Band and Drums were always very good and something to be very proud of.
    Regards,
    Joe.

Link with my last post about this CD. The late Smokey Joe obviously had a copy and loved it, especially with a glass of scotch! Bless him.
