Re: advice please
I was known as smokey joe due to my habit, when I left the Army I worked out how much I spent over a year on tobacco, being very mean I decided I could no longer afford to smoke.
So money and will power did the trick for me, best of luck.
Regards,
Joe.

is it a good idea to set a date to quit?

Re: advice please
try keeping a small jar( pocket size if possible) with the contents of an ash tray mixed with waterin it, when ever you feel like a fag have a good sniff of the jar and you wont want a fag after that (trust me).

Re: advice please
Give up smoking for yourself and nobody else. I have stopped a few times over the past 20 years and have now been off them for 3 years and this time it’s for good. The reason I always went back to it was I wasn’t ready to stop and I was just doing it because other people were nagging me to do it.
I lit one up one morning after a heavy night and asked myself why I was doing it after just coughing half a lung up, so I put it out and haven’t had one since.
As patronising as this sounds you do get a feeling of freedom knowing you are not dependant (and all smokers are) on cigarettes and don’t have to do it anymore.
Willpower is the only way, patches just lengthen the time nicotine is in your system. A 20 a day smoker will be nicotine free in 5 – 7 days. After that it is just breaking the habit. If you want to have a cigarette call someone, make a brew just do something else until you realise that you don’t need it you just want it. Above all keep in mind that you are freeing yourself from a cocktail of poisons, an expensive addiction and the smell. Keep it up it is worth it.
