Re: "Gurkha" goad
Gentlemen,
The Daily Telegraph has reported the death of Lt-Col Ian Goad. The notice reads:
GOAD – IAN GEORGE BOILEAU. Lt Col Ian George Boileau Goad (Gurkha Goad), late of the Indian Army and the 23rd and 24th Foot, passed away at Barnham, West Sussex on Thursday 21st March 2013 aged 87.
The Funeral will take place at St George's Church, Eastergate [just north of Bognor Regis] on Friday 5th April at 12 noon.
Family flowers only, but donations, if desired, to the Chernobyl Children's Life Line (Isle of Wight Branch). Further information from Hamilton and Marshall, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 5QD. Tel: 01983 522772.
The following information is from Col Sinnett:
I think I am right in saying that he spent longer at regimental duty with us than he did with the SWB/RRW. He joined 1 RWF in Hubbelrath before February 1948, after which he went to Berlin during the airlift, followed by Buxtehude, and then the West Indies. In Grenada he met his wife, Jean. He left the battalion in Chisledon after the July 1954 Colour presentation at which he commanded No 2 Guard.
