Re: Site Security ?
I don't have any major issues with the site, I should have just stated that if anyone needed my details I'd PM them. It's a good reminder to all just to be aware.

Re: Site Security ?
Bob.
Thanks for the info.
You may recall a previous thread when the subject of 'invisibles' was raised. i am not in favour of anyone Anonymous or Invisible on the Forum. I am not sure that this Forum is like others. We have Active members of the Forces and occasionally info comes down from above, therefore any compromise of identity should be avoided.
I do not think it either desirable or practical to have everything locked away but maybe blocks like Sound Off, research etc should be members/ logged on only. a decision like this must be up to all members, but this does not really solve the underlying problem of secure internet access.

Re: Site Security ?
Richie.
Like you i have no problems with the site, in fact i believe the moderators do an extremely good job.
However i think you were right to bring this up. During my searches relating to the St Venant thread i came upon numerous links to the forum. also i found links to WW2 Talk a MilHis web site. That allowed me to access that particular thread only, no attachments etc. If i wished to view photo's or attachments i was required to register and log in which seems quite reasonable.
Be assured, as i said before, i have NO criticism of the forum, my only concern is regarding links to external sites that May be a source of problems.
