    Changes at Cardiff City FC

I have just gome onto the MSN Page and have found the following:

Cardiff have confirmed the Bluebirds will now play in red after the club's Malaysian owners formally unveiled a new image for the Welsh side.
The switch - which also includes a new club crest and takes effect immediately - comes after the club's hierarchy approved the decision at a board meeting.
The club have unveiled three new strips - a red home shirt, a blue away strip, and a third kit, which is mainly black. All new kits bear a redesigned badge, incorporating a main image of a dragon, with a small bluebird inserted underneath, and carrying the slogan "Fire and Passion".

In addition to the new kit, the club have announced plans to build a brand-new training ground, pay off the historical Langston debt, provide manager Malky Mackay with a substantial transfer kitty, and explore the possibility of expanding the Cardiff City Stadium.

A statement on Cardiff's official website, cardiffcityfc.co.uk, said: "Following a comprehensive review of wider supporter feedback via email, letters, media coverage and polls run via the official Supporters Club and Media Wales and as a consequence of the above commitment, Cardiff City Football Club will also reactivate rebranding proposals.

"With a view to exploiting and maximising its brand and commercial revenues in international markets, which it is hoped in turn will bring success to the club locally, whilst also attracting new partners and investors." Cardiff chief executive Alan Whiteley said: "This is a major and significant financial commitment and we are grateful to our investors for their continued confidence in this football club."Concerning the commitment to developing the crest and to switch our primary colour to red, as directors - and as fans in our own right - we recognise that there is a history and commitment that goes with supporting Cardiff City and we are conscious and proud of the loyalty, bond and passion so many share for this club.

"We also have to be prepared to be realistic and progressive. Sometimes in difficult economic times and challenging market conditions, in order to attract investment to survive and progress, brave, bold and compelling decisions and sacrifices need to be taken and made. By securing this investment we can safeguard the immediate and long-term future of this club."

This is something that 'Bluebirds'will not be happy with.

    Re: Changes at cardiff city

a sad day for tradition and the '' bluebirds ''. another club falls to the questionable promises of the speculators and their god Money.
i hope it works. but you have to remember that Wrexham are in the Blue Sq league because the Owner was not interested in the Club only the Prime piece of real estate called the RACECOURSE.
if these investor are putting 100 mil into the club they will expect a good return on this.if ccfc do not produce the required return then they could be in a much worse position than they are now.
i am from North Wales and a Wrexham fan but i would not like any of our Welsh teams to suffer the same fate because the directors were so dazzled by flashing $ signs that they did'nt see all the ''small print ''
however i wish them luck. i think they are going to need it.

I am A Jack and proud of it a season ticket holder, been through the good times the very bad times and now enjoying the high life. However in all this time we have not sold out to anyone in 100 years and changed our crest. What I see is new owners dictating what they want so that football tops can be sold in the far east. Unless Cardiff City get to the promise land (premiership) no one in the far east will know anything about them, and the revenue they hope to get by owning a premeirship club will fall and the ivestment lost. 140 years of history gone.

    Re: Changes at cardiff city

    Hello Vori & Ric,
Bearing in mind my age I can recall the heady days when football was played with honour and to a certain extent fun. I sold programmes for the Cardiff city match versus the Moscow Dynamos on or about November 1945. The Dynamos sneaked in winning by 10 goals to one Beriah Moore scored for Cardiff from a corner. This was long before the minimum wage, and the yellow & red card system gained ground. I reckon I saw the best of football. Including the likes of Sherwood, Stanley Matthews, Mortenson, and the "Preston plumber" Tom Finney. We will never see the likes of these footballers in today's game because if a winger tries to dribble he is unceremoniously decked and the culprit accepts the card as part of the game. In conclusion NO MUCH TO MY REGRET I DID NOT KEEP ANY PROGRAMMES AND THEY COST 3 OLD PENCE.
Regards to all the football supporters out there. keep your comments and views coming.

Another Very Sad Day when this happened. Though as the saying goes, 'He who pays the piper, calls the tune'. Still a very Great Shame. I really feel sorry for all you Cardiff Supporters. One Good thing though, 'they havn't put you into Debt by purchasing your Club'. unlike some. Braz

Re: Changes at Cardiff City FC

it is sad with the changes etc etc..but with reports of ccfc losing £1million a month & still owing sam hamman a rumoured £24million all the debts are being paid off, if these malaysians should walk & not invest i can see div1 staring us in the face & crowds of 10,000 plus again..we went thru that in the 80's

Re: Changes at Cardiff City FC

    lucky.
why is the club losing 1mil per month and how is the investment going to change that. if they owe 24 + mil.then after an allocation for new players, say 10 mil.that is 34 mil, a brand new training ground say 5 mil.= 39 mil.new kit + extending stadium + other debs. must be close to 50 mil now.if you continue losing 1 mil per month then the rest is'nt going to last that long.
but these people are Investing money in ccfc not giving the money to them. there will be conditions and if i was investing ( i wish )this sort of money then the first thing to be changed would be that monthly loss. this could be very painful for the club and fans because investors are not interested in history or tradition only the return on their investment.you have already seen this with the change of team strip. i would not want to be employed by ccfc in any capacity as i think there is going to be some drastic cut backs.but only time will tell.

Re: Changes at Cardiff City FC

players wages i believe vori is why they are losing £1million per month, that along with never filling the stadium, they need 27,000 (a full house) every other week..its always 22,000-25,000 & these malaysians want to extend the stadium to 35,000..they will never ever fill it! its gonna look stupid in front of the tv camera's only two thirds full!

Re: Changes at Cardiff City FC

If Cardiff get ito the Premiership they will fill to capacity wont they? Surely that is the plan and why they are sinking so much money onto the project unless of course these are really stupid business people who have money to throw down the drain just to own a football team. So some tradition may be lost and nobody wants to see that but it is sometimes inevitable especially in this day and age where money talks. Rik says Swansea have never capitulated and good for them but to remain where they are, they may have to in the future. You can never say never in this game. If or indeed when Cardiff get into the top flight I'm sure the majority of fans will get over the shirt change.
If I can help somebody as I pass along, my living will not be in vain.
