    Kenny Dalglish leaves Liverpool

Liverpool have parted company with manager Kenny Dalglish.

The Scot's future had been in doubt in recent days, with the Reds passing no comment that he had left his position following talks with the club's owners in Boston this week.

Dalglish returned to England to further speculation about his future and the club have confirmed he has left the club.

A statement from Liverpool read: "Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and Liverpool Football Club announced that Kenny Dalglish is to leave his post today as Manager after having his contract terminated.

disgusting.obviously he has been blamed for the poor performance on the field.something that no manager can control.maybe the owners should start looking in a different direction for the reasons for poor performance. i have no doubt that others will follow.

    Re: Kenny Dalglish leaves Liverpool

I have to disagree, I am a big fan of Dalglish but he bought poorly and his use of players throughout the season was at times beyond belief. Spearing and Henderson were weak links from the very start of the season yet he continued to use them together throughout the season. Spearing was a nightmare all season yet, he started him in the FA Cup final! I would have bet he would be the one player who would drop the team in it....and it would have been easy money. True you cant blame him for the players performance on the pitch, but he put them there. Carroll does not fit at LP, he wasn't to know that but, he defended his useless performance all season. He played a team for 80 minutes before bringing on players like Kuyt and Bellamy to turn the game around. Ok, it worked on occasion but it was peeing in the wind, wishful thinking, fingers crossed and hope for a miracle. That is not good football management and he had to go.

The game has moved on, but Kenny has not. Liverpool players need a manager who is ruthless not an Icon that they idolize. Sir Bobby Charlton was an Iconic player but was not cut out for management.....horses for courses Kenny has had his day and done his best time to move on.
If I can help somebody as I pass along, my living will not be in vain.

gwyn.being out of the U.K. most of the time i do not read U.K. papers very often so you are much better informed than me. however, as you say, the game has moved on. the manager of today is head of a management team. how much actual responsibility does he have for purchase of players ? does he go on the reports of other members of his team ? and does he actually pick the team these days.?
i think kenny may be paying the price for some poor decisions elsewhere but when you are in overall command. you know where the 'buck' is going to stop, right with YOU. sadly , today, it goes with the territory.

I watched a fascinating documentary about QPR. It appeared the manager had very little control. Seemed to be the executives and directors who called the shots.

    Re: Kenny Dalglish leaves Liverpool

Kenny left because results were not good enough, I am a massive reds fan and never wanted Kenny to come back for exactly this reason, Yeah we won the Carling cup not in open play or extra time (penaltys and only just) Against Cardiff No disrespect to Cardiff. Watching the reds at home has been criminal ! team selection and tactics not good enough. These new owners are business men first, Its all about results = profits, They dont hang around they act when they need to. Till we start the new season with whatever manager we get I wont make any judgments till we see what the results are.
some say Kenny should have got another season (I dont) I could not watch that again,We love Kenny and always will but when the tears have cleared we all know its the right decision for the club and he knows nobody is bigger than the club.
God Bless you King Kenny Y.N.W.A Steve Scouse Carey.

    Re: Kenny Dalglish leaves Liverpool

liverpool can only blame themselves for appointing a manager not only who failed there before but is simply not a manager as he has proved again,35 million on Andy Carroll would have got alarm bells ringing before he even started but i love it

    Re: Kenny Dalglish leaves Liverpool

Kenny never got involved in prices, That was Damien Comoli job hence he also went. But in ref to above comment Kenny was a manager who won the prem with Blackburn .
