    lofty,

that is a possibility but. comparing your 'australian one ' with the 'denmark one ' well, there realy is no comparison.seeing your pics only confirms something that i have thought all along. i think that the 'Ausie ' stein, because it is so ornate compared with your 'denmark' mug may have been for Officers. this is why i asked in my earlier post about the closing of a mess. as this seems to me to be the sort of thing that any surplus funds might have been used for.

I remember seeing a stein like that from Lemgo. When A Coy went to Australia May/June 1982 (Falklands was on). An Aussie Coy came to Lemgo, perhaps one of them took it back with them,

    lofty.

i tried a few more ideas but with the company closing down i can get no further in that direction. at least now you know someone remembers one at Lemgo.which is also gone. so it gets more difficult. i wonder if the museum might have any knowledge, but i doubt it. if you could find out which ' ausie ' unit was involved maybe you might get some info from there.
i have gone as far as i can. i hope my input has been useful. so good luck with your search and if you find anything more i would be interested. but if you dont then just enjoy what is a nice piece.

    Ivor,

The stein has arrived and looks rather stunning (lots better than the pictures)

I have been in touch with RHQ and they are pretty sure that there records do not go back that far, a shame really but as you said in your previous thread "just enjoy what is a nice piece".
