    Heart and Soul

When i was a young lad i was into tamla mowtown and northern soul, But now i am older (57) i am getting into brass bands, Just watched Brassed off again what a brilliant film. Go on you tube and listen to Danny Boys speech in royal albert hall (band of the year competition) really moving. I know your tastes change as you get older but i used to hate braas band music and now i love. Anybody else gone down the same road. Steve scouse carey.

    Re: Heart and Soul

I have always liked a cross section of music, even as a young lad I liked to listen to Mario Lanza (one of my dads favs) and 50/60's music. In my twenties I was big on ELO as they combined rock and classical music and produced (for me ) a great sound. Today (57) still have the same taste but I do enjoy listening to good choirs, the latest being the young lads who appeared on the X factor with their rendition of Calon Lan.
If I can help somebody as I pass along, my living will not be in vain.

    Re: Heart and Soul

sorry steve but this is definately a serious sign of old age and for somebody from the wrong side of the river.... well what can i say....(i'm from Prescot ..the right side).
however i am 68 and have suffered from this problem for many many years. there is not a known cure but regular sessions of the Brighouse & Rastrick,Foden's or one of the Military Bands keeps it in check. my own fix is a good session with the marches of John Philip SOUSA (highly recomended ) or for a more serious outbreak i session with one of the scot's Pipe Bands.(usualy needs to be played at least 5 miles from the nearest habitation in case someone complains ).
the problem is not life threatening and regular sessions work wonders.it can be habit forming.but if the treatment is carried out in public people might give you funny looks and avoid you.

    good luck

    ivor

Steve like you I enjoy brass band music and Danny's speech at the end of the film is true as to what happened to the working class and the communities they lived in which were destroyed by one hateful woman. But on a brighter note I sing in two male voicr choirs and there is nothing better, at 63 I still enjoy motown.
