    Hello Steve bird,
I have a man in my branch Bill Brown 14497242. He went over to France on D Day plus 3. He served in the 4th and 6th battalions RWF. He was wounded 3 times. he is about 84. he served right from the battle for Caen and right through to the Reichswald, the belief is he lied about his age to serve his country. he is in hospital at present due to his age.
    Regards Brian Bridgend branch RWFCA

    Re: how many left

    Hello Steve Bird,
I am quoting details from The Red Dragon. Headed 6th Battalion(Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion.
The conversion of the 10 Battalion into a Parachute Battalion was in accordance with a new policy. The 10th battalion was selected to represent Wales in the Airborne Forces. It is perhaps significant, that of all the Battalions raised in this way during the war, this Battalion was the only one that received permission from the King to preserve in it's new title the name of it's former Regiment the Goat, Flash, and Saint David's day celebrations were all retained as part of the Royal Welch tradition. The Battalion were in 2nd Parachute Brigade, which consisted of 4th Parachute Battalion, 5th Parachute Battalion, formed from 8th Queens Own Cameron Highlanders, and the 6th (Royal Welch) The Parachute Regiment.
There is a lot more info but I am sending the bare bones in a direct answer to your query.
Regards as ever RBD aka jungle1810
