Wearing of beret and hackles
I have noticed in some of the photographs that I have viewed of late, that the cap badge worn is now placed over the left ear rather than the badge being over the left eye.
Can someone tell me if this now the norm and when did it come into effect?

Re: Wearing of beret and hackles
There is no change. It is purely down to idleness, lack of personal pride or trying to be different. Happened in our time Roger with some individuals and it falls with J/NCO's to put it right. Post them to a Scottish regiment on loan if they want to wear that tradition.

Re: Wearing of beret and hackles
Glyn, I was thinking of sending offenders to either the Scottish Bn's (they wear the glengarry over the left ear) or even the Royal Irish Bn's (they wear the "caubeen" with the badge being over the left eye/ear)

Come on Gwyn, it's a different army to the one we knew. With what the boys are going through these days wearing the cap badge out of position is not really a drama. Anyway they spend more time in their helmets these days than in their regimental headress.
