    LS&GC - split service

I was talking to a guy wearing about 7 medals today, I told him I at least had one that he didn't have, the LS&GC - so asked what did he do?

"Nothing" he said, but he'd done X years in the Navy and X years in the Army so didn't qualify, I thought that's surely not right!

    Is it?
Working for yourself is great, not only can you work half days, you can choose which 12 hours!

Royal Navy: An Other Rank who completes 15 years of reckonable service from the date of attestation or age 17½, whichever is later, and who holds all three good conduct badges, shall be eligible to receive the medal.

Army: A soldier who completes 15 years of reckonable service from the date of attestation or age 17½, whichever is later, shall be eligible to receive the medal.

As I understand it, he would have had to be discharged from the Navy and then re-enlist into the Army. The two periods of service would be independent of each other and not a continuance of service.
