It seems that the one Regiment of Wooden Tops are facing the Axe.

THE oldest regiment in the British Army is facing the axe under sweeping defence cuts.

PS:I always believed that The Royal Scots was the senior regiment?

The Royal Scots were amalgamated with the KOSB in 2006 to form the 1st Bn The Royal Regiment of Scotland (1 SCOTS)

Its about time the Household Div felt the goverment axe,all the famous Regiment that have either been amalgamated or disbanded how have they survived for so long can only be down to the pull that the many Generals they have fighting their corner has worked up till now,i would take it further and amalgamate them into The Royal Household Regiment with the exception of the Scots Guards who could amalgamate within the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Welsh Guards could become The 3rd Bn The Royal Welsh
